GRAND PRESCHOOL AND COVID-19: FAQ’S
1. When is the first day of Preschool for students?
The first day of preschool for students is Monday, September 21.
2. Will there be in-person teaching and learning at Grand Preschool?
Yes. There will be three sessions of in person learning-teaching
3. How many students will be in each preschool session?
Although enrollment may change slightly in the next several months, Grand Preschool’s goal is to keep class sizes to 10-13 students per session.
4. Will there be an option for remote learning through Grand Preschool? If so, what will it look like?
No. Research regarding best practices in early childhood learning does not support the use of online or remote learning in place of an in person educational experience. A remote teaching and learning option will only be available if Grand Preschool is required to enforce another soft closure. In the event of another school closure, students who are already enrolled will be scheduled into a variety of teaching-learning activities, which may include, but are not limited to; live video with the preschool teacher, interactive games and/or tasks in Class DoJo, online worksheets, recorded video and videos provided through the Class DoJo program. Remote learning would be offered Monday-Thursday.
5. Will my child be required to wear a mask?
Masks are required only while riding on the bus and when walking in line. Our goal is to help students understand how wearing a mask helps everyone, and to help them tolerate wearing a mask, using positive teaching strategies and encouragement. Students will be encouraged to wear their masks, and will practice wearing masks for short periods over the course of the day. Again, our goal is to teach and encourage. Students will not be disciplined or sent home for not wearing their masks at preschool. Once students have arrived at preschool, we will reinforce mask wearing when it happens and allow students to adjust to mask wearing as they are able to tolerate it. All adult preschool staff are required to wear masks at all times. We have purchased ClearMasks tm for preschool staff. These masks will allow our students to see our mouths and fit in such a way that they are more effective in reducing respiratory output than facial shields.
6. What are preschool staff doing to reduce the risk of spreading COVID-19 at Grand Preschool?

7. Will bus transportation be provided for my child?
Yes. Buses will run for Grand Preschool as usual. You will receive information about pick up and drop off as we get closer to the start-up date of September 21.
